5 Stars!

All aboard for a journey of faith, love, and hope with Dreams on the Horizon by Penny Zeller. This second installment in the Horizon series takes readers on a heartfelt adventure set against the backdrop of the late 1800s railroad expansion in Idaho. The story of Mae Shepherdson and Landon Bennick is a powerful demonstration to God's unwavering faithfulness and the transformative power of His grace.

Mae Shepherdson, once a voiceless orphan, now dedicates her life to the Horizon School for the Deaf, a beacon of hope for children who, like her, once felt ostracized. Her dreams of providing a safe haven for these children are threatened when the railroad plans to build a spur through the school's property. Mae’s faith is tested as she questions why God would allow such challenges. Her journey is beautifully encapsulated in one of my favorite quotes:

“…she also knew the power of God’s abounding grace and His mercy in bringing her a forever family. It was the hope that flooded her own life that had set her on the path to extending that hope to other children.”

Enter Landon Bennick, a man bound by duty to his father’s railroad empire but drawn by his burgeoning faith and growing love for Mae. Landon’s internal struggle between obedience to his father's plans and his newfound faith creates a fascinating narrative. His journey is perfectly reflected in the quote:

“I’ve recently been learning a lot about God and that He has a plan for our lives.”

As Landon and Mae's worlds collide, readers are taken on a ride filled with romance, danger, and divine intervention. The depth of their characters and the strength of their faith are inspiring. Mae's unwavering belief in God's plan and Landon's transformation from a man seeking approval to a man of God are beautifully portrayed.

The secondary characters add richness and charm to the story, particularly Miss Greta and The Lieutenant, whose side story brings humor and warmth. And let's not forget Beans, the adorable dog who adds an extra layer of delight to the narrative.

Penny Zeller masterfully weaves Christian themes throughout the book, reminding us of God's unconditional love and perfect plan. The gentle faith thread is a reminder that:

“God placed the calling on my life before I was grown, a tug so forceful there was no way I could resist. I humbly remain a student of the Word, and I will never know all there is to know this side of Heaven.”

Dreams on the Horizon is more than just a historical romance; it's a story of perseverance, community, and unwavering faith. The challenges Mae and Landon face are real and relatable, making their victories all the more sweet. The story is a beautiful reminder that, no matter the obstacles, God's grace and love are ever-present, guiding us towards our true purpose.

For anyone who loves a tale of faith, resilience, and sweet romance, "Dreams on the Horizon" is a must-read. Penny Zeller has crafted a story that captures the heart and soul, leaving readers inspired and eager for more. As the train rolls through Horizon, Idaho, it brings with it a message of hope and the promise that with God, all dreams are possible.

So, grab a seat and let Dreams on the Horizon take you on an unforgettable journey. This five-star read beautifully showcases the power of faith and love, God’s grace, and a story that will linger in your heart long after the final page.
