This four-star entertaining story is complete with well-developed, lovable main characters, Ryan and Katherine, with unique personalities and talents. Shannon Sue Dunlap absolutely nails romantic comedy! Her writing style is perfectly paced, engaging, and seamlessly descriptive. One of the many ways the female main character pulled me into the story and had me loving her was these thoughts she had: “’Gracious words,’ she muttered under her breath. ‘Remember. Gracious words.’ Easier said than done. She’d been a straight shooter all her life. Ready to tell it like it was. Until an unexpected conviction hit her one morning when she was reading the book of Proverbs. Gracious words are a honeycomb, sweet to the soul and healing to the bones. Had her healing ever brought healing to anyone? Doubtful. She wanted to be a honeycomb, but her blunt speech was more akin to apple cider vinegar.” This truly hit home with me. Countless times I have had the same convictions and same thoughts as Katherine. I am always striving to do live out Psalm 19:14: Let the words of my mouth and the meditation of my heart be acceptable in Your sight, O LORD, my Rock and my Redeemer. Faith-based messages are intertwined throughout this fabulous novel to shine light on God’s Word, bring each reader closer to God, and share reminders of His absolute truths. Lone Star Sweetheart is a delightful, enjoyable, captivating, clean, wholesome, satisfying, and lovable page-turner!
