I recently finished Blessed by Nancy Guthrie, and it truly exceeded my expectations! This Bible study takes the often-daunting book of Revelation and makes it accessible and enjoyable. As I turned its pages, the absolute truths of Revelation come alive in my everyday life.

Guthrie’s main message struck a chord with me: “I realized I needed to take Revelation off the shelf and invest myself in reading, hearing, understanding, submitting to, and rejoicing in this book.” That was the nudge I didn’t realize I needed! The insights and understanding I gained will remain with me as I strive to grow closer and closer to my Savior.

Each chapter dives deep into the heart of Revelation, focusing not on when Jesus will return, but on “what we are to do, who we are to be, and what we can expect to endure as we wait for Jesus to return.” This shift in focus has reshaped how I approach my day-to-day living. It’s not just about waiting; it’s about living actively and faithfully right now.

One quote that resonated with me is: “Enduring in our allegiance to King Jesus even when it costs us... is the ordinary Christian life.” This hits home as I navigate my own faith journey, reminding me that living authentically often means embracing discomfort, pain, betrayal, and loss. It’s a radical act in a world that doesn’t always celebrate our choices.

Guthrie beautifully conveys that “Revelation is going to add some meat to the bones of our understanding of what the blessed life really is.” She invites us to see the bigger picture of God’s plan, helping us embrace our roles as citizens of the kingdom of heaven. The practical applications are plentiful, and I’m discovering new ways to live out these truths every single day.

Throughout this study, I was truly blessed. The reflections and insights Nancy shares remind me that there is a story we should be living out of—a narrative that shapes how we live today and every day to come. “According to Jesus, the kingdom of God is the story,” and Blessed helps us see where that story is headed, filling our hearts with joyful anticipation.

Guthrie also emphasizes that “God has chosen to apocalypse, or reveal, His perspective to us so that we can meet the uncertainty, the unfairness, and the undoing of life in this world with faith and hope.” This message is both powerful and comforting, reminding us that we’re not alone in our struggles and pain.

In closing, I wholeheartedly recommend Blessed to anyone looking to grasp Revelation without the usual fear or confusion. This Bible study left me inspired, informed, encouraged, and deeply blessed. Nancy’s warm and engaging tone makes this an excellent resource for both individuals and small groups. It’s more than just a study; it’s an invitation to explore Scripture and embrace the journey of faith with courage and joy!
