5 Stars!
Looking for a book that wraps you in a cozy Christmas blanket of suspense, faith, and heart? I’ll Be Home is the perfect choice! This anthology, featuring novellas by Darlene L. Turner, Sara Davison, Helena Smrcek, and Melanie Stevenson, brings you characters facing challenges that are anything but merry. Yet, amid the chaos and confusion, hope and faith shine through, guiding them toward home—not just in a physical sense, but in their hearts and spirits.
Though I’ve only read Mistletoe and Mayhem in the Rockies by Darlene L. Turner so far, it absolutely stood out. Set against the breathtaking backdrop of the Double H Ranch, this cozy mystery delivers all the festive charm with a thrilling edge. With mysterious guests, a fugitive on the run, and a story full of clever twists, I was hooked from the start. The pairing of Emory, a determined writer, and Hunter, a protective constable, brings a fun and dynamic edge to the unfolding mystery. Together, they wrestle with their own fears while unearthing the truth, but it’s the way Turner weaves faith into the story that really grabbed my heart.
One line that left an impression on me: “Why did people doubt God? His creation spoke volumes, and last night’s storm had proved it. He had painted the peaks with a fresh, white blanket.” This beautifully captures how God’s presence is undeniable, even in life’s storms. Another powerful moment is Hunter’s advice to Emory: “Your writing is a gift from God, always use it for His glory, not yours.” This struck a personal chord, reminding me—and any reader—of the importance of using our God-given gifts for His purpose and His glory.
This story goes beyond its suspenseful twists, intertwining faith elements that leave a lasting impact. As Emory poignantly reflects, “Thank You, God, for shifting my perspective and bringing me home.” It’s a message that speaks directly to the heart—trusting God’s plan and finding true peace and homecoming in Him, especially during the Christmas season.
I’m eager to explore the other novellas in this collection—Love Across Time by Helena Smrcek, Where My Heart Belongs by Melanie Stevenson, and Just a Gilbert Blythe Kind of Girl by Sara Davison. If they’re anything like Mistletoe and Mayhem in the Rockies, I’m sure they’ll be equally filled with warmth, faith, and heart. And that “Story Settings” map on the first page? A delightful bonus!
If you’re in the mood for cozy mysteries, a touch of holiday romance, and stories grounded in faith, I’ll Be Home is exactly what you’ll want to curl up with this Christmas.
